He began his career in 2007 as a leading trader in the Securities and Bond Trading Department of the Investment Bank "Morgan Stanley" in London.
Over the years, he worked as an Expert at the Center for Strategic Development and Analysis of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan, Director of the Treasury Department at JSC "Samruk-Kazyna" National Welfare Fund, Deputy Chairman of the Board at JSC "Kazyna Capital Management" and JSC "Development Bank of Kazakhstan," Deputy Director for Monetary Operations and Asset Management at the National Bank of Kazakhstan, and Advisor to the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. He also held senior positions at the National Bank of Kazakhstan and JSC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy."
From October 2020 to January 2022, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms.
From January to September 2022, he held the position of First Vice-Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry.
From October 2022 to May 2024, he held the position of General Manager at Binance Kazakhstan.
On 6 May 2024, he was appointed Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry by the Decree of the Head of State.
On 29 September 2025, Deputy Prime minister – minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
