    Introduction of QazETA electronic travel authorisation for entry into Kazakhstan

    The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Georgia informs foreign nationals of the phased introduction of an advance electronic travel authorisation for entry into Kazakhstan (QazETA), under Government Resolution No. 890 of 10 October 2026.

    The system aims to digitalise migration procedures, simplify formalities for foreign nationals and enable advance screening of travellers entering the country.

    Who needs an electronic travel authorisation?

    QazETA applies to foreign nationals entering Kazakhstan visa-free, including Georgian citizens. Certain categories of travellers are exempt under Kazakhstan’s legislation.

    When will the system be introduced?

    • From 1 November 2026 – at Aktau International Airport and the Urlyutobe (Pavlodar Region), Aukhatty (Zhambyl Region), Atameken (Turkistan Region) and Nurly Zhol (Zhetysu Region) road border crossings.

    • From 1 January 2027 – at the international airports in Astana and Almaty.

    • From 1 March 2027 – at all remaining border crossing points in Kazakhstan.

    • From 1 July 2027 – electronic travel authorisation will become mandatory for foreign nationals subject to this requirement. Failure to hold the required authorisation will constitute grounds for refusal of entry into Kazakhstan.

    During the transition period, through 30 June 2027, the absence of an electronic travel authorisation will not, on its own, constitute grounds for refusal of entry.

    How to apply for QazETA

    1. Download the official QazETA mobile app or visit the web platform.

    2. Register and complete the identity verification procedure required by the system.

    3. Submit your electronic application at least 72 hours before your planned entry into Kazakhstan.

    4. Enter your passport or other accepted travel document details, purpose of travel, planned travel dates and contact information. Upload the documents requested by the system.

    5. Check the outcome of your application on the QazETA platform.

    Fee and validity

    The authorisation is free of charge and is issued for 180 calendar days.

    Its validity does not entitle the holder to remain continuously in Kazakhstan for 180 days. The permitted length of stay depends on the traveller’s nationality and the applicable entry and stay rules.

    Who is exempt?

    Subject to supporting documents, exemptions include:

    • travellers under 16 and those aged 65 or over;

    • holders of a valid visa for Kazakhstan;

    • foreign nationals holding a temporary residence permit or residence permit in Kazakhstan;

    • transit passengers remaining within an international airport’s transit zone without crossing Kazakhstan’s State Border;

    • holders of an accreditation card issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan;

    • members of official state and government delegations and accompanying persons.

    Other exemptions are provided by law. The resolution also specifies the conditions applicable to holders of diplomatic and service passports. The full list is available via the link below.

    At the border

    Present the valid passport or other identity document used in your application. Kazakhstan’s Border Service will verify your authorisation electronically.

    QazETA does not replace a visa, extend the permitted length of stay or guarantee entry into Kazakhstan. Admission is determined in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

    The Embassy recommends applying well in advance and checking the latest information on official resources before travelling.
