In Astana, a consumer was refunded the full cost of a laptop after poor-quality warranty service. Thanks to the assistance of the Department of Trade and Consumer Rights Protection of Astana, the dispute was resolved out of court.
A resident of the capital purchased a laptop worth 480 thousand tenge. During use, the device began to periodically freeze and reboot on its own. To fix the malfunction, the consumer contacted a service center and handed over the equipment for warranty repair.
However, two weeks later the situation only got worse. Upon receiving the laptop, it turned out that the original malfunction had not been fixed, and a new mechanical defect had appeared on the device's body - a dent on the corner.
In addition, when accepting the laptop, the service center employees did not issue the consumer a document with a detailed description of the equipment's original external condition.
The buyer sent the seller a written claim demanding that the damage be repaired and quality repair be carried out. However, the complaint went unanswered.
Unable to resolve the dispute on his own, the consumer turned for help to the Department of Trade and Consumer Rights Protection of Astana.
The Department's specialists carried out legal and awareness-raising work, as a result of which the dispute was resolved without going to court.
As a result, the consumer was refunded the full cost of the laptop - 480,000 tenge.
The Department reminds that when handing over equipment for repair, it is important to demand an acceptance certificate with a detailed description of the device's external condition. This will help record the condition of the goods at the time of transfer and protect your rights in case of a dispute.
This case shows how important it is to respect consumer rights when providing warranty repair services and to promptly review incoming claims.
