On October 27, 2026, a round table was held at the Sh. Rashidov Samarkand State University to mark Kazakhstan’s primary national holiday – Republic Day. The event brought together public figures, members of the academic community, and experts from both countries.

Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Sharipov delivered welcoming remarks to the participants. In his address, he expressed sincere gratitude to the university’s leadership—Rector Rustam Khalmuradov and Director of the SamSU Institute of Languages and Culture of the Peoples of Central Asia Juliboy Eltazarov—for their support in organizing the event.

The diplomat underscored the historical significance of Republic Day, noting that the Declaration on State Sovereignty, adopted on October 25, 1990, laid the political and legal foundation for the country’s future independence. He elaborated on the key stages of Kazakhstan’s modern development under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, highlighting, in particular, the comprehensive modernization of the public administration system, large-scale socio-political reforms, and systematic efforts to improve the investment climate—all of which foster the state’s sustainable economic growth.

Talgat Sharipov highlighted that relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are currently developing dynamically in the spirit of a genuine strategic partnership and alliance. Particular attention was paid to the pivotal role of regional integration in Central Asia and the enduring importance of consolidated efforts by the states of the region to ensure overall stability, security, and sustainable development.

Participants in the round table exchanged views on a wide range of issues concerning the bilateral and regional agenda. During an open and constructive discussion, the speakers comprehensively examined the current state and future prospects for deepening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the scientific, educational, cultural, and expert spheres. The experts placed particular emphasis on the significance of these events, which are taking place in the lead-up to a major historical milestone—the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The participation of members of the international automotive expedition "Abylai Khan’s Caravan Route"—held under the motto "From the Headquarters of Abylai Khan to Zhideli-Baysyn"—lent a special air of solemnity to the celebratory events. This project is intended to foster the revival of historical memory, encourage a deeper reflection on the shared spiritual values of fraternal peoples, and promote the legacy of great rulers from the Kazakh and Uzbek lands: Abylai Khan and Amir Timur.

These very key themes were the focus of a scientific and practical conference recently held at SamGU, which featured an in-depth exchange of expert views on the preservation of our shared cultural heritage.

The Consul General expressed special gratitude to Murat Idrisov—a prominent public and state figure in Kazakhstan, honorary citizen of the city of Kokshetau, and leader of the expedition—for his significant contribution to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between the two nations.

The recent round table served as an important expert platform for reviewing the results of collaborative efforts and outlined new, concrete benchmarks for further strengthening inter-university, scientific, and interregional cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
