On October 17, 2026, an international scientific conference titled "Current Issues in Linguistics, Translation Studies, and Language Didactics" was held at the Sh. Rashidov Samarkand State University. The event was dedicated to the 80th birthday of the prominent linguist, Head of the Department of Uzbek Language and Literature, Doctor of Philology, and Professor Ibodulla Mirzayev.
The conference was opened by Rustam Kholmurodov, Rector of the university, a distinguished scholar of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the invaluable contribution of Professor Ibodulla Mirzayev to the development of national linguistics, translation studies, and the education system, and warmly congratulated him on this significant milestone.
The conference was attended by prominent scholars and representatives from academic and educational circles in Uzbekistan and abroad. Speakers highlighted the long-standing scholarly and pedagogical career of Professor Ibodulla Mirzayev, the unique scientific school he established, and his contributions to the training of young specialists.
Presentations and congratulatory remarks were delivered by Maksud Asadov, Director of the Institute of Uzbek Language, Literature, and Folklore at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Talgat Sharipov, Consul General of Kazakhstan; Ebrahim Donishifar, Rector of the Imam Reza International University (Iran); Academician Nurislom Tokhliev; as well as professors Shakhlo Naralieva (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University), Margarita Miltseva (Peoples' Friendship University of Russia), Olimjon Kasimov (Tashkent State University of World Languages), Kazokboy Yuldoshev, Khamidullo Dadabov, Gulchekhra Rikhsieva, and other prominent scholars.
In his welcoming remarks, Consul General Talgat Sharipov highlighted the invaluable contribution of Professor Ibodulla Mirzayev to strengthening cultural, humanitarian, and academic ties between the two fraternal nations. The diplomat specifically noted the professor’s extensive and significant work in conducting in-depth research into the philosophical prose of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Kunanbayev. In his scholarly articles—such as "Ilm-hunar – dunyoni bilishning kaliti" ("Knowledge and Craft: The Key to Understanding the World"), which focuses on Abai’s "Book of Words"—the scholar provides a detailed analysis of the humanistic essence of these "Words of Edification." Furthermore, Talgat Sharipov underscored Professor Mirzayev’s achievement in translating this foundational work into the Uzbek language, a project undertaken in collaboration with Professor Kozokboy Yuldoshev, a Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences. This joint endeavor has not only revealed the full depth of Kazakh philosophy to Uzbek readers but has also served as a robust bridge for spiritual rapprochement, fostering the further development of research projects and the integration of the academic communities of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
