A Regional Coalition in Support of the New Constitution Has Been Established in the Almaty Region
As part of the nationwide initiative to establish the National Coalition “For the People’s Constitution of a Just and Progressive Kazakhstan!”, a regional coalition has been formed in the Almaty Region.
The regional coalition includes more than 300 members. Among them are chairpersons and deputies of maslikhats, heads of branches of political parties, lawyers, representatives of public organizations and mass media, experts, trade union members, and representatives of youth associations.
According to the head of the regional coalition, Kuat Baigodzhayev, the main task of the organization is to widely explain to the public the essence and significance of constitutional changes, create platforms for public dialogue, and organize joint events in support of the reforms.
“The new Constitution is aimed at modernizing the political system. During the development of the document, thousands of proposals from citizens and experts were received, which demonstrates that it was prepared in an open format. In the region, we will hold meetings with residents and provide information on the key changes,” said Kuat Baigodzhayev.
The head of the Alatau city coalition, Roza Abilova, also emphasized the importance of the draft Basic Law.
“The document pays special attention to protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens. In addition, measures are envisaged to improve the efficiency of state institutions. It is important that residents familiarize themselves with the proposed changes ahead of the referendum,” noted Roza Abilova.
In the near future, the regional coalition plans to organize information and awareness-raising meetings, open dialogue platforms, and public discussions throughout the region. Meetings with residents of remote settlements are also planned.
The nationwide referendum on the new Constitution will be held on March 15.
