In the city of Qonaev, a meeting was held between members of ethnocultural associations and public organizations and Chairman of the Almaty Regional Maslikhat, member of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan Kuat Baigodzhayev. The event was held within the framework of the “Assembly. Parliament. Maslikhats” project and was moderated by Chairman of the City Maslikhat Serik Nurkadyrov.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the role of the Assembly in strengthening unity and social harmony, as well as effective cooperation with local government bodies.
Addressing the participants, Kuat Baigodzhayev emphasized that for three decades the Assembly has remained one of the key institutions ensuring stability and peace in society.
“Interethnic harmony and mutual respect are our greatest wealth. Only through the unity of the people can the region develop and the country’s economy grow,” he noted.
Special attention was paid to the activities of ethnocultural associations, which play an important role in maintaining open dialogue among residents. Today, Qonaev is home to the Almaty Regional Russian Center, the Kapshagay Ethnocultural Association of Koreans, and a branch of the Republican Ethnocultural Center of Uyghurs of Kazakhstan. These organizations hold cultural events, support the preservation of traditions, and develop initiatives aimed at educating the younger generation.
“The initiatives of ethnocultural communities make a significant contribution to preserving peace and harmony in the region and strengthening trust between people,” said Kuat Baigodzhayev.
Representatives of more than one hundred ethnic groups live in the region today, and all of them are part of the united people of Kazakhstan.
Participants warmly welcomed the speech of Zabira Saidildina, a member of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan and editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Ogni Alatau,” who spoke about the history of one of the country’s oldest publications and its role in promoting stability and mutual understanding. She noted that for more than a century the newspaper has covered social changes, cultural events, and joint initiatives that unite residents.
“The stories of people living under one sky are the brightest reflection of our shared life. The newspaper has always sought to show this diversity honestly and without embellishment,” she said.
According to Zabira Saidildina, this approach has become the foundation of regional journalism, allowing readers to see how life in the region is developing and how joint efforts contribute to positive change.
Summing up the meeting, participants emphasized that cooperation between ethnocultural associations, government bodies, and the media plays an important role in maintaining social harmony. They noted that open dialogue strengthens unity, cohesion, and trust in society.
