In 2026, the Almaty Industrial Zone will continue its large-scale development. By the end of the year, it is planned to launch 11 new investment projects, open new small industrial parks, and begin the implementation of the third phase of territory expansion. This was announced at a briefing at the Regional Communications Service by Yerlan Zhailaubay, Director of the Almaty Industrial Zone.
According to the director, this year 11 projects with a total value of 12.6 billion tenge are planned to be commissioned in the Industrial Zone, which will create 691 new jobs. Six of these projects belong to the industrial sector.
Among the most significant are the expansion of production of equipment for heating and water supply systems, the construction of a modern Euro Truck Service logistics complex, the launch of a plant for the production of sheet PVC, the production of aerated concrete blocks and ALC panels, the opening of a plant for manufacturing household paper products, as well as a facility for producing metal road and bridge structures.
As Yerlan Zhailaubay noted, all new projects align with the priority directions for the development of domestic industry.
"Today, the most dynamically developing sectors are building materials, mechanical engineering, transport logistics, the chemical industry, waste processing, and the production of everyday consumer goods. These are the sectors that form the foundation of a modern diversified economy, contribute to import substitution, and increase the share of domestic products on the domestic market," he emphasized.
Simultaneously, the development of infrastructure for small and medium-sized businesses continues. In 2026, it is planned to open five new small industrial parks in Almaty with a total area of over 22 thousand square meters. Their launch will create more than 400 new jobs and expand opportunities for locating manufacturing enterprises.
Special attention is being paid to the long-term development of the Industrial Zone. According to the director, the Almaty Akimat (city administration) is already working on the third phase of expanding the industrial site.
It is planned to increase the territory of the Industrial Zone by approximately another 376 hectares. To date, land plots with a total area of 323 hectares have already been purchased.
The implementation of the new phase will allow for the placement of additional high-tech manufacturing facilities, attract new investors, create thousands of jobs, and significantly increase tax revenues to the city budget.
According to Yerlan Zhailaubay, the Almaty Industrial Zone has long outgrown the framework of an ordinary industrial site and has transformed into a full-fledged production ecosystem.
The development of the automotive industry stimulates the creation of component manufacturing enterprises, the production of building materials supplies the domestic market with local products, logistics complexes increase supply chain efficiency, and processing enterprises implement the principles of a circular economy and rational resource use.
Such an integrated approach, the speaker emphasized, makes Almaty one of the most attractive regions in the country for locating new production facilities and implementing investment projects.
In the future, the Industrial Zone is set to become one of the leading centers of high-tech industry in Kazakhstan. The main directions for further development will remain attracting investment in high-value-added projects, developing mechanical engineering, the electronics and chemical industries, producing new-generation building materials, modernizing logistics infrastructure, processing industrial waste, and broadly implementing digital technologies into production processes.
Summarizing the results, the director of the Industrial Zone noted that in a relatively short period, it has been possible to establish modern industrial infrastructure, implement dozens of investment projects, attract hundreds of billions of tenge in investment, create thousands of jobs, and ensure the output of products worth trillions of tenge.
According to him, the further development of the Industrial Zone will strengthen Almaty's position as a leading industrial, investment, and innovation hub of Kazakhstan, increase the competitiveness of domestic industry, expand the country's export potential, and ensure sustainable economic growth for the long term.
