Kazakhstan’s Development Priorities in a New Historical Cycle Presented at the Japanese National Diet

Tokyo, November 5, 2026 – Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Japan, delivered a lecture at the International Conference Hall of the National Diet of Japan, highlighting Kazakhstan’s major achievements over 35 years of independence and the key provisions of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s Address to the Nation, entitled “Kazakhstan’s Current Priorities in a New Historical Cycle.”

The event brought together more than 120 representatives of Japan’s political and public communities, including members of both Houses of the National Diet, prominent cultural figures, and experts on Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

The Kazakh diplomat briefed participants on the current priorities of Kazakhstan–Japan relations, emphasizing the considerable potential for cooperation in human capital development and the exploration and development of critical mineral resources. Particular attention was also given to strengthening transport and logistics ties. In this regard, the Ambassador informed participants about the results of trial shipments of cargo from Japan via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), as well as the launch of a direct flight between Tokyo and Almaty scheduled for December this year.

Yasutoshi Nishimura, Chairman of the Japanese Parliamentary Friendship League with Kazakhstan, reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s importance as a partner of Japan, underscoring the high level of bilateral engagement and expressing the Japanese side’s readiness to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Takako Suzuki, a Member of the House of Representatives of the National Diet of Japan and Head of the Public Relations Headquarters of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, highlighted Kazakhstan’s steady political development. She emphasized that, amid growing international uncertainty, close cooperation between Japan and Kazakhstan serves as an important factor in promoting security and peace both in Central Asia and on the international stage.
