Today, the Second Tianshan Forum for Central Asia Economic Cooperation is being held in Almaty, bringing together representatives from government bodies of the region’s countries, international financial organisations, development institutions, business circles, and the expert community.

As part of the forum, a meeting took place between the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, M.T. Takiyev, and the Minister of Finance of China, Mr. Lan Fo'an. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for further strengthening inter-agency cooperation, the development of financial markets, expanding access to investment resources, and supporting joint economic initiatives.

Madi Takiyev emphasised that Kazakhstan places particular importance on the development of comprehensive cooperation with China, based on mutual respect and trust. One of the key themes of the negotiations was the development of partnerships within international financial institutions, including the initiative to establish the SCO Development Bank. Furthermore, the parties discussed issues related to the expansion of cooperation in the Chinese capital market. Madi Takiyev expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for the successful issuance of two sovereign tranches of Kazakhstan's panda bonds in 2026, totalling 10 billion yuan. The attracted financing conditions and high investor interest became an important milestone in the development of financial interaction between the two countries. Special attention was paid to the implementation of infrastructure projects.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Madi Takiyev proposed to intensify the practical implementation of the inter-agency Memorandum of Understanding signed in July of the current year, including through the exchange of experiences in tax administration, public finance management, and the introduction of financial technologies.

Also, within the framework of the forum, a session titled "Investments in Central Asia" took place, during which the Vice Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dauren Kenbeil, delivered a welcoming speech. In his address, Dauren Kenbeil noted that Central Asia is at a new stage of international economic development. The growing interest of global players in the region, as well as the formation of new interaction formats such as "Central Asia+", open up additional opportunities for strengthening economic ties, expanding trade cooperation, and attracting international investments.
