Ahead of Republic Day, the Exemplary Demonstration Orchestra of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan held an open-air concert at Kok-Tobe in Almaty. The Guard Next musical programme gave residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy popular melodies performed by military musicians at one of the city’s iconic venues.
The programme featured well-known songs from Kazakhstan’s popular music scene, as well as military-patriotic compositions. Familiar melodies caught the attention of visitors: some sang along with the musicians, others filmed the performance on their phones, while the audience showed its appreciation with applause.
The concert became part of the evening atmosphere at Kok-Tobe. The musicians’ professional performance and diverse repertoire brought together audience members of different ages.
The performance by the National Guard’s Honor Guard Company attracted particular attention. The guardsmen’s precise movements, synchronization and impressive elements of ceremonial drill were met with applause from the audience.
The Guard Next project aims to promote orchestral music and introduce wider audiences to the modern sound of military bands. Its format allows military musicians to perform in public spaces, making their art accessible to diverse audiences.
Previously, the Exemplary Demonstration Orchestra of the National Guard held open-air concerts in Astana, Petropavl and Karaganda. The project continues to expand its reach, with performances taking place in cities across the country, including at higher education institutions.
