National Guard Officers Speak to Almaty Schoolchildren About Courage and Service to the Motherland

Ahead of Republic Day, officers of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a lesson on courage entitled “Ерлік пен елдік – ұрпаққа аманат” (“Courage and Patriotism: A Legacy for Future Generations”) at Lyceum School No. 210 in Almaty. The event was dedicated to the heroic deeds of servicemen and their service to the Motherland.

The schoolchildren learned about the importance of devotion to duty, respect for the law, and readiness to help others in difficult situations. Particular attention was paid to real-life examples from the service of National Guard personnel, whose actions demonstrate resilience, determination, and loyalty to their country.

Major Alibek Abdilov, Adviser to the Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard, emphasized that civic values begin to take shape at an early age and that serving the country starts with a responsible attitude toward one’s work.

“Today, you are sitting at your school desks. This is the period when the character and sense of responsibility of future citizens are formed. Whatever profession you choose, the main condition for serving the Motherland is to do your work honestly and make a positive contribution to your country. Never stop learning, do not be afraid of difficulties, and set ambitious goals,” Major Alibek Abdilov said.

The actions of Major Zhandos Bayanbayev serve as an example of how a serviceman’s personal courage contributes to the country’s overall security. In 2013, while escorting convicted prisoners, he confronted an armed criminal. Despite sustaining three gunshot wounds, the officer managed to stop the attack. For his courage and selflessness, he was awarded the Aibyn Order, III Class.

Maintaining public order, ensuring citizens’ safety, and remaining faithful to the Military Oath are essential aspects of service in the National Guard. Responsible actions such as these help strengthen the foundations of the state, while respect for the heroic deeds of those who defend the country helps instill patriotism and civic responsibility in the younger generation.

The event concluded with a performance by the National Guard’s Exemplary Orchestra and a ceremonial drill display by servicemen of the Honour Guard Company. Learning about military traditions and real examples of courage gave the schoolchildren a closer look at the service of Guardsmen and its role in ensuring the country’s security.
