Military Unit 6505 of the “Ortalyq” Regional Command of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan has equipped a mobile dining facility based on an Iveco minibus. The vehicle can now be used to provide meals for servicemen in field and service conditions where access to a permanent dining facility is unavailable.
The need for this solution stems from Kazakhstan’s sharply continental climate, particularly during the autumn and winter months. The mobile dining facility is designed to provide more comfortable conditions for servicemen while they carry out their duties.
The compact interior has been converted to meet the everyday needs of personnel. The mobile catering unit can accommodate up to six people and provides space to store food, heat prepared meals and eat. Its interior is equipped with a removable storage cabinet, a microwave oven, an electric kettle and a table.
Hygiene requirements have also been taken into account. Two containers are installed inside the cabinet: one holds clean water for handwashing, while the other collects used water. An inverter supplies power to the electrical appliances.
An important consideration during the conversion was preserving the minibus’s original functionality. All equipment has been installed using the vehicle’s standard mounting points, without drilling into the body or carrying out welding work. The fittings do not obstruct the rear doors or access to the cargo compartment, allowing food supplies and necessary equipment to be loaded and unloaded freely.
Another advantage of the design is that the vehicle can quickly be restored to its original configuration. All components of the dining facility are removable. If necessary, they can be dismantled and the standard seats reinstalled at the manufacturer-provided mounting points.
Specialists are currently evaluating the practicality of the new solution and its suitability for use during service assignments. If the pilot project proves effective, mobile dining facilities could be introduced at other military units of the law and order troops. This would expand the options for organizing meals for personnel in locations where permanent dining infrastructure is unavailable.
