The Department of the Penal Enforcement System for Aktobe Region organized an “Open Day” for representatives of the business community at Institution No. 8. The main focus of the event was on creating new production facilities and additional jobs for convicted persons.
Currently, 22 small and medium-sized businesses operate at the institution in various fields, including leather goods manufacturing, production of paving stones, thermal facade materials, rubber products and fish products, as well as tailoring services. Compared to the same period in 2025, the number of production facilities has increased by 10.
Entrepreneurs toured the institution’s industrial zone, existing infrastructure, as well as new hangar-type and modular buildings that can be used to accommodate production facilities. As part of the development of the production base, a new production workshop and a greenhouse for growing mushrooms have also been opened. Participants were presented with the conditions for establishing production facilities, opportunities for cooperation with the institution, and prospects for implementing new projects.
Particular attention during the meeting was paid to employment opportunities. Official employment enables convicted persons to acquire professional skills and work experience, as well as develop a sense of responsibility and discipline. In the future, this can provide an important foundation for employment and social adaptation after release.
Work to attract small and medium-sized businesses will continue. The main goal is to expand the institution’s production capacity, create additional jobs, and increase employment opportunities for convicted persons.
The “Open Day” served as a platform for constructive dialogue between representatives of the penal enforcement system and the business community, as well as for discussing prospects for further cooperation.
