Servicemen of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan proudly represented the country on the international sports stage, winning medals at world championships in two wrestling disciplines.
The World Kurash Championship among military personnel was held for the first time in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Servicemen of the National Guard competed as part of the Kazakhstan national team.
At the championship, Corporal Madi Amangeldy, a serviceman of Military Unit 6636, competed in the up to 81 kg weight category and won the silver medal.
Another medal for the Kazakhstan team was secured by Corporal Azat Kuanov, a serviceman of Military Unit 6655. At the World Beach Sambo Championship, held in Caraguatatuba, São Paulo State, Brazil, he competed in the up to 88 kg weight category and took third place.
The championship, held in Brazil for the first time, brought together leading athletes from around the world. The competition programme included individual bouts for men and women across eight weight categories, as well as mixed-format team events.
The successful performances of National Guard servicemen at international competitions demonstrate their high level of athletic preparation. Combining military service with competitive sport, the servicemen contribute to the development of Kazakhstan’s national sports and strengthen the sporting traditions of the law and order troops.
