Why is it forbidden to wear the hijab in schools?
The Committee on Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Public Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan regarding the ban on wearing clothing with religious attributes in schools (hijab), reports the following.
In accordance with the legislation of the country (articles 47 and 49 of the Law "On Education"), the observance of school uniforms by students is mandatory, and the performance of this duty is entrusted to parents.
Also, according to paragraph 4 of Article 3 of the Law "On Religious Activities and Religious Associations", the system of education and upbringing in the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the exception of spiritual (religious) educational organizations, is separated from religions and religious associations and is secular in nature.
That is, social relations, including in the field of education, are regulated by the current legislation, and not by religious norms.
Thus, the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan grant citizens the relevant rights, while defining their obligations to the state and society.
At the same time, these norms do not discriminate in any way on the grounds of attitude to religion.
Based on the above, we urge parents to comply with the mandatory school uniforms for secondary education organizations, approved by the order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
