What is considered items of religious function? Is it necessary to conduct a religious expert examination of them?
In accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 9 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Religious Activity and Religious Associations" (hereinafter referred to as the Law), objects of religious function are defined as objects, products, and paraphernalia necessary for the administration of services, religious rituals and ceremonies, as well as containing elements of religious symbolism.
Due to the fact that, according to Article 6 of the Law, these items belong to the objects of a religious expert examination, they are subject to a religious expert examination to clarify the circumstances of their religious affiliation. Based on the results of a religious expert examination, a corresponding letter will be issued, defining whether the object belongs to religious ones.
