Biography
Serik Kozhaniyazov was born in 1965 in the city of Kyzylorda.
In 1989, he graduated from the Kuzbass Polytechnic Institute (RF) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering;
in 2002, the Kyzylorda branch of the L. Gumilev Eurasian State University with a degree in Economics and Finance.
He began his career in 1989 as a process engineer, foreman of the section of the mechanical repair plant No. 2 in Kyzylorda.
In 1992-1999, Director of the small enterprise "Serik", the investment privatization fund "Arko-invest";
in 1999-2001, director of the State Enterprise "City Business Center" under the Akim of Kyzylorda city and the state enterprise "Center for Attracting Investments and developing the Securities market" under the Akim of Kyzylorda region, director of the open funded pension fund "Senim" in the city of Kyzylorda;
In 2001-2007, he worked as the head of the department for the formation of market infrastructure in the office of the Akim of the Kyzylorda region, Director of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industry of the Kyzylorda region;
in 2007-2008, Akim of the city of Kyzylorda;
From 2008 to 2014, he held the positions of Chief Inspector of the Department of Organizational Work and Regional Development of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Deputy Head of this department, then Head of the Department of Regional Development of the Office of the Prime Minister;
from 2014 to 2019, Deputy Akim of the Kyzylorda region, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the Baikonur complex;
From 2019 to 2022, he held the position of Vice Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
from 2022 to 2024, the first deputy akim of the Kyzylorda region;
On January 10, 2024, by order of the akim of the Kyzylorda region, he was appointed akim of the city of Kyzylorda.
