The Standing Commission of the Almaty Regional Maslikhat Considered Amendments to State Obligations Under the PPP Project for the Design, Construction and Operation of Wastewater Treatment Facilities in Konaev
At the meeting of the Standing Commission of the Almaty Regional Maslikhat on Economy, Budget, Law and Order, Anti-Corruption and Deputy Ethics, the issue of introducing amendments to state obligations under the public-private partnership (PPP) project for the design, construction, and operation of wastewater treatment facilities in the city of Konaev was considered.
According to the Head of the Almaty Region Department of Energy and Water Supply, the implementation of the public-private partnership project “Design, Construction and Operation of Wastewater Treatment Facilities in the City of Konaev” is currently underway.
The project is aimed at modernizing the city’s engineering and utility infrastructure, improving the environmental situation, and ensuring the long-term sustainable development of Konaev.
During the implementation of the project, in accordance with the city’s General Plan until 2050, the location of the facility was reviewed and a new construction site was identified.
Due to these changes, the project documentation was fully updated, and the need arose to construct additional engineering networks and infrastructure facilities. As a result, the project underwent state examination and received a positive conclusion.
The project includes the construction of modern wastewater treatment facilities, sewer collectors, pumping stations, as well as electricity supply, gas supply, and communication infrastructure. In addition, storage ponds for treated water are planned.
Currently, preparatory and organizational works are underway at the construction site, with specialized equipment and workforce involved. Necessary materials for engineering networks are being delivered, and initial earthworks have begun.
The implementation of the project will increase the capacity of the wastewater system in Konaev, reduce the environmental impact, and create modern engineering infrastructure necessary for the city’s further development.
