During a working visit to the city of Alatau, Akim of the Almaty Region Marat Sultangaziyev held a meeting with residents. Chairman of the Regional Maslikhat Kuat Baigodzhayev also took part in the working trip.
During the open dialogue, residents raised issues related to pedestrian crossings, street lighting, installation of traffic lights, and housing queues. All requests and proposals were taken under consideration and placed under control.
Following the meeting, the delegation visited several important facilities. At the “Zhұmys” LLP plant, they reviewed the production of paper and hygiene products and the company’s plans for full automation. The enterprise employs more than 100 people and operates over 80 units of modern equipment.
The delegation also visited United Hygiene, a company producing diapers and wet wipes that are in demand in both domestic and international markets.
According to Marat Sultangaziyev, Alatau is actively developing: the economy is growing, social projects are being implemented, and roads, engineering networks, schools, and healthcare facilities are being built. A project office has been established in the city, and a General Plan with 12 points of economic growth has been approved.
The Alatau Special Economic Zone is operating successfully, with its residents having already invested 125 billion tenge and created more than 500 jobs.
The city’s investment portfolio includes 42 projects worth more than 980 billion tenge, including ASP Arena, K-Park, the PepsiCo plant, and the Arkaz Invest industrial park.
The Akim of the region emphasized that Alatau should become a model of a modern and technologically advanced city. Gasification has reached 75%, centralized water supply has been provided, and the development of engineering and social infrastructure continues. By the end of 2025, more than 60,000 jobs are planned to be created in the region, including nearly 2,000 in Alatau.
