A meeting was held at the National Analytical Center at Nazarbayev University with Mohamed Rachid Maaninou, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco to Kazakhstan, and Amin Laghidi, Professor, the President of the National Council of Economic Diplomacy of Morocco.
NAC Head Nurlan Orazov briefed the guests on the Center’s activities, key areas of research, and its experience in implementing analytical projects for government agencies, international organizations, and businesses.
The NAC’s experience in applying behavioral insights attracted particular interest. The Center presented, among other initiatives, an experiment aimed at promoting domestically produced cheese, which resulted in a 20% increase in sales at participating stores over a four-week period.
The main focus of the meeting was the prospects for expanding expert cooperation. Professor Amine Laghidi proposed facilitating partnerships between the NAC and think tanks in Morocco and across Africa. The parties discussed opportunities for joint research, exchange of expertise, and participation in international discussion platforms. Areas of particular interest include regional development, investment policy, international trade, and economic cooperation. One of the outcomes of the meeting was an invitation for NAC representatives to participate in the MEDays 2026 International Forum, which will take place in November in Tangier. The forum brings together representatives of government institutions, businesses, international organizations, and the expert community from more than 120 countries.
The parties expressed their mutual interest in continuing the dialogue and developing practical cooperation.
