On October 28, 2026, a regional scientific-practical conference titled "90 Years of the History of the Kostanay Region" was held at the Kostanay Regional Museum of History and Local Lore.
The conference brought together historians, local history researchers, archivists, and museum professionals. Among the participants were professors from the A. Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University (KRU) — A. Kuzembayuly, K. Kh. Zhakyp, and D. M. Legkiy; K. K. Dzhamanbalin, a Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences from the Z. Aldamzhar Kostanay Social-Technical University; S. V. Samarkin, a professor in the Department of Social-Humanitarian and Natural Sciences at the Kostanay branch of Chelyabinsk State University (ChelGU); and many others.
The conference served as a platform for discussing key stages in the region's historical development, its socio-economic transformations, its cultural heritage, and the contributions made by prominent local figures to the history of Kazakhstan.
During the event, participants presented the results of their research, shared materials related to history, archaeology, and local studies, and addressed pressing issues concerning the preservation of historical memory and the promotion of the rich heritage of the Kostanay region.
A thematic exhibition was also presented as part of the conference, showcasing the major milestones in the historical, socio-economic, and cultural development of the Kostanay region over the past 90 years.
The conference served as a significant contribution to the celebrations marking the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Kostanay region and underscored the importance of studying the historical past to better understand the region's present and future.
