A 40-year-old convict serving a sentence for theft in a minimum security facility in the Abai region has lost the right to serve his sentence in a minimum security facility for attempting to smuggle a cell phone.
Returning from work, the convict tried to bring a cell phone into the facility. The prohibited item was discovered by the staff of the institution during the inspection.
The materials on this fact were sent to the court. The court recognized the actions of the convicted person as a malicious violation of the established procedure for serving a sentence and the serving of the sentence in a minimum security institution was replaced by serving the sentence in a medium security institution, for a term not served of 1 year and 8 months.
- Compliance with the established rules is mandatory for all convicts. Attempts to carry prohibited items are considered as serious violations of the detention regime. For such actions, responsibility is provided, up to and including stricter conditions for serving a sentence," said Eldar Iskakov, head of the operational group of the institution.
