An attempt to smuggle a cell phone was prevented in the minimum security facility of the penitentiary in the Abai region.
A 25-year-old convict serving a sentence for distributing narcotic drugs, upon returning from work, tried to bring a mobile phone into the facility, hiding it in his shoes. However, during the inspection, the staff of the security department promptly identified and stopped this violation.
During the trial, the convict explained that he intended to use a mobile phone to communicate with his girlfriend at night.
- An attempt to carry and store prohibited items is a gross violation of the established procedure for serving a sentence. For the violation committed against the convicted person, materials have been collected to the court on changing the type of punishment from a minimum security institution in a medium security institution to the remaining term of punishment, 3 years and 2 months," said Duman Beksoltanov, head of the regime department.
