An attempt to bring a prohibited object was prevented in the minimum security facility of the penitentiary in the Abai region.
A 29-year-old convict serving a sentence for distributing narcotic drugs, upon returning from work, tried to bring a mobile phone into the facility, hiding it in his shoes. However, during the inspection, the staff of the security department promptly identified and stopped this violation.
During the trial, the convict explained that he intended to use a mobile phone to communicate with his wife at night.
- An attempt to carry and store prohibited items is a gross violation of the established procedure for serving a sentence. For the committed violation, the convict's type of institution will be changed: he will be transferred from a minimum security institution to a medium security institution for the remainder of his sentence, 3 years and 11 months," said Dastan Izguttinov, a senior operative at the regime department.
