At the end of September, an eco-park with an area of 43.8 hectares will begin operating near the city of Kostanay. The project is being implemented in accordance with the instruction of the Head of State to create eco-parks in areas adjacent to major cities and regional centers.
Today, Akim of Kostanay Region Kumar Aksakalov, who participated in a community cleanup day as part of the national environmental campaign «Taza Qazaqstan», spoke about the work being carried out in the region to ensure cleanliness, improve territories, and create recreation areas, children's playgrounds, and sports facilities.
Since 2024, at the initiative of the Head of State, the national environmental program «Taza Qazaqstan» has been implemented in our country. It is aimed at fostering an environmental culture in society and promoting the principles of caring for nature.
In 2024–2025, as part of the program's implementation, more than 400 public spaces have been improved in the region, and over 250 children's and sports playgrounds have been installed. About 600 unauthorized landfills have been eliminated, and more than 1,250 dilapidated and abandoned buildings have been demolished. Over 277,000 trees and saplings have been planted.
«In the same year, I gave instructions to develop mini-parks and mini-squares on any available land. Today, old park areas are being renovated in our region, and new parks, alleys, and modern public spaces are being created,» noted the head of the region.
In the regional center, the number of new public spaces intended for recreation and comfortable leisure time for residents is increasing every year. In the near future, such places will also appear in the Bereke and Yubileyny microdistricts.
«During weekend walks, I see that residents of all ages visit new recreational spots with interest,» noted the Akim of the region.
In addition, in accordance with the instruction of the Head of State to create eco-parks in areas adjacent to major cities and regional centers, work is underway in the region to create two park zones. One of them is a triathlon park in Kostanay. The second is an eco-park with an area of 43.8 hectares, being created on the territory of the forest fund outside the city.
This will be a modern space for recreation, entertainment, and active leisure, a place where residents can spend time with the whole family, relax, engage in sports, and enjoy nature.
Running and cycling paths, football and volleyball fields will be developed here, and benches, gazebos, and children's playgrounds will be installed. In addition, parking for 300 cars and an underground pedestrian crossing to the under-construction residential microdistrict «Astana» are planned.
660 million tenge will be allocated for the project's implementation.
«The creation of eco-parks will help form a safe and comfortable environment for residents' recreation, sports, and family leisure. At the same time, such projects contribute to the formation of an environmental culture and the strengthening of the principles of caring for the environment,» noted the Akim of Kostanay Region.
Overall, throughout the year, systematic work has been carried out in the region to improve public spaces, renovate courtyards, clean the territories of all settlements, bring solid household waste landfills into compliance with established requirements, and eliminate illegal dumps.
Key indicators for the current year:
- renovation of more than 70 multi-apartment residential buildings;
- installation of 97 children's playgrounds;
- demolition of over 520 dilapidated and emergency residential buildings.
This year, it is planned to plant 77.3 thousand saplings in the region's settlements. About 60 thousand of them have already been planted.
Children and youth, volunteers, and local entrepreneurs are actively involved in this work. Their participation in environmental and improvement activities makes a significant contribution to fostering a culture of cleanliness and caring for the environment.
