Abdrakhmanov Askar

Born in 1979 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Askar Abdrakhmanov graduated from the Al Farabi Kazakh National University with a major in World History. Holds a scientific degree of a Candidate of Sciences.

From 2003, pursued a career in academic institutions and think tanks in Kazakhstan, including in Institute of Oriental Studies and Institute of World Economy and Politics.

In 2009 worked as a Consultant to the Secretary of State in the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In diplomatic service since 2009, he has worked at the as Chief of Division, Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Committee for International Information, which is a public diplomacy arm of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. His diplomatic postings abroad included Counselor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Warsaw, Poland (2011-2014), Deputy Permanent Delegate of Kazakhstan to UNESCO in Paris, France (2018-2020), and Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brussels, Belgium (2022-2023).

On August 14, 2023 by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, he was appointed the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to UNESCO and other international organizations in Paris, France.

Married, with three children.

Speaks the Kazakh, Russian, English, French and Polish languages.
