The Akmola Region has summarized the results of a large-scale digital transformation in the field of territory monitoring. In cooperation with Kazakhtelecom JSC, the region has transitioned from one-off pilot projects to the establishment of a fully-fledged and continuous infrastructure of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
While the use of drones was of a pilot nature in 2025 and made it possible to identify dozens of solid municipal waste accumulation points, unauthorized dump sites, fire hotspots, areas with heat loss, and illegal structures in the region, as well as successfully conduct flood monitoring (completing over 2,500 flights with real-time data transmission), 22 UAVs are currently deployed across the region. Modern systems are located in every regional center, as well as in the cities of Kokshetau and Stepnogorsk.
The unified drone aviation network covers several key areas of life support and regional security:
1. Housing, Communal Services, and Heating Networks: Thermal imaging monitoring allows for the prompt detection of potential heat loss and emergency leaks.
2. Construction and Land Control: Aerial monitoring ensures effective control over construction sites and helps curb instances of illegal facility erection.
3. Environmental Control: Systematic detection of unauthorized dumps and waste accumulation sites is carried out, with subsequent transmission of operational data through the ECC-109 to responsible government authorities.
4. Emergency Situations and Security: UAVs are deployed in search and rescue operations, the inspection of vast territories, and the preventive monitoring of flood conditions.
Practice has demonstrated the high efficiency of the implemented technologies, significantly increasing the speed of detecting violations, reducing verification time, and accelerating managerial decision-making for the benefit of the residents of the Akmola Region.
