
Algiers, 6 August 2026 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Algeria Anuarbek Akhmetov held a meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dunoma Umar Ahmed, who is on a working visit to Algeria.
During the meeting, the Ambassador briefed his counterpart on the political and socio-economic reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He also informed him about the entry into force of the new Constitution and the upcoming elections to the Qurultay (Parliament).
The Ambassador presented the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan to establish an International Water Organization under the auspices of the United Nations. The Permanent Secretary highly appreciated the relevance of the initiative, noting that ensuring water security is a global challenge requiring the joint efforts of all nations.
The parties also discussed the current state and prospects of Kazakhstan-Nigeria cooperation and exchanged views on the further development of political dialogue, the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, and the enhancement of the bilateral legal framework.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening cooperation within international organizations, as well as maintaining regular contacts between the embassies and the foreign ministries of the two countries.
