At a government meeting, Arman Shakkaliyev, Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, reported on the ongoing efforts to supply the domestic market with food products. Kazakhstan currently fully satisfies domestic demand for most basic foods, according to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan's Telegram channel. "We are over 100% self-sufficient in sunflower oil, flour, rice, potatoes, onions, carrots, pasta, beef, and lamb," Shakkaliyev said.
He also reported that, in the first half of the year, domestic trade increased by 15.3% to 36.2 trillion tenge.
The food sector contributed the most, growing by almost 30%. The position of our agricultural producers in foreign markets is also strengthening. From January to May, food exports increased by 34.4% to $1.6 billion.
"At the same time, the domestic market's dependence on critical imports is decreasing." Its share decreased to 14.7%, which indicates an expansion of domestic demand for domestic products,” Arman Shakkaliev emphasized.
