From July 6 to 10, Astana is hosting the international seminar "Harmonized System", organized with the support of the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Customs Cooperation Fund of Korea (CCF Korea).
The seminar brings together officials from the territorial State Revenue Departments and the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as international experts in goods classification.
The seminar is led by WCO-accredited Harmonized System experts Yara Gil Silva Novis (Brazil) and Álvaro Fernández Acebes (Spain).
During the event, participants are discussing modern approaches to goods classification, practical aspects of applying the Harmonized System, and the proposed amendments for the 2028 edition of the Harmonized System. Special attention is given to new tariff headings, including those related to medical vaccines, as well as to the institution of Advance Classification Rulings, which facilitates trade and enhances the predictability of customs procedures for businesses.
The seminar highlights Kazakhstan's active engagement in international customs cooperation and its commitment to implementing global best practices in customs administration. The knowledge and experience gained during the event will contribute to further improving goods classification, enhancing the effectiveness of customs control, and creating a more favorable environment for participants in foreign economic activity.
