Kuala Lumpur, 5 November 2026 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Malaysia Malik Murzalin held a meeting with a delegation of the Malaysian Consortium of Mid-Tier Companies (MCMTC), led by its President, Martin Ang.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Malaysia, establishing new business contacts, and implementing joint projects.
The President of MCMTC provided an update on preparations for a large-scale business mission to Kazakhstan to participate in the international food exhibition FoodExpo Qazaqstan 2026, scheduled to take place on 11–13 November in Almaty. The delegation is expected to comprise representatives of more than 48 Malaysian companies, including MCMTC members, as well as Malaysian government agencies, namely the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP), and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).
To facilitate direct business engagement, a Kazakhstan–Malaysia Business Forum and a series of B2B meetings are planned for the Malaysian delegation with the support of the Embassy, bringing together representatives of relevant government agencies and business communities in Kazakhstan.
The Ambassador highlighted the significant potential for increasing bilateral trade and investment cooperation, emphasizing that Kazakhstan offers a favourable business environment and serves as a strategic gateway for Malaysian companies seeking access to Central Asian markets.
Particular attention was given to emerging investment opportunities in Kazakhstan. The Ambassador briefed the delegation on the key priorities outlined in President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s recent State of the Nation Address, which envisages large-scale infrastructure modernization and the implementation of major construction projects across the country.
In particular, the President proposed designating 2027 as the Year of Large-Scale Construction, which is expected to create additional opportunities for foreign investors in transport, energy, construction, and engineering infrastructure development.
In this context, the Ambassador encouraged MCMTC members and other Malaysian companies to actively explore these opportunities and participate in investment projects in Kazakhstan, including through partnerships with Kazakh enterprises.
For his part, Martin Ang expressed appreciation to the Embassy for its support and assistance in facilitating the upcoming business mission, noting the strong interest of Malaysian businesses in expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties and promoting concrete business projects between the two countries.
