30 October 2026 - A culinary workshop dedicated to traditional Kazakh cuisine was held at Center Rog, a cultural and creative hub in Ljubljana. The event was organised by representatives of the Kazakh diaspora in Slovenia with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Slovenia.
The workshop offered participants an opportunity to discover the richness of Kazakhstan’s culinary traditions, learn about the distinctive features of traditional dishes and gain insight into their cultural and historical significance.
The programme featured the preparation of traditional Kazakh dishes, including manty (steamed dumplings), samsa (traditional savoury pastries) and zhent, a traditional Kazakh dessert that holds a special place in the country’s culinary heritage. Participants not only learned about the recipes and preparation techniques but also took an active part in the cooking process, experiencing first-hand the traditions of Kazakh hospitality.
Initiatives of this kind play an important role in preserving national culture, strengthening ties among members of the Kazakh diaspora and promoting Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage abroad. Culinary traditions, as an integral part of national identity, serve as a universal language of intercultural dialogue, offering an opportunity to learn more about a nation’s history, customs and way of life.
The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan expresses its appreciation to the representatives of the Kazakh diaspora in Slovenia for their initiative and active involvement in organising the event, as well as to the management of Center Rog for providing the venue and supporting the implementation of the workshop.
The event represented another contribution to the development of cultural dialogue between Kazakhstan and Slovenia, the strengthening of humanitarian ties and the promotion of Kazakh national culture among Slovenian audiences.
