Berlin, 30 October 2026 – A roundtable discussion was held today in the German capital on the key provisions of the Address by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the people of Kazakhstan, entitled “Kazakhstan’s Current Priorities in a New Historical Cycle”. The event brought together representatives of German government institutions, expert and academic communities, business circles, and media.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Federal Republic of Germany Nurlan Onzhanov outlined the key messages of the President’s Address. He emphasized that, against the backdrop of large-scale political and institutional modernization, Kazakhstan is entering a new stage of development focused on socioeconomic progress, technological advancement, and improving the well-being of its citizens.

Particular attention was paid to the main priorities for Kazakhstan’s further development, including infrastructure modernization, strengthening the country’s transport and logistics potential and energy security, as well as digital transformation and the adoption of artificial intelligence. The implementation of these priorities is intended to ensure sustainable economic growth, enhance the country’s competitiveness, and accelerate the diversification of the national economy.

During the event, experts from Germany highlighted the importance of Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics potential and its strategic location at the crossroads of international trade routes. In their view, particular importance in this regard should be attached to the practical implementation of agreements in the transport and logistics sector reached during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s official visit to Germany in September 2026. Further development of transport infrastructure will contribute to strengthening economic ties with European countries and create new opportunities for business cooperation with Germany.

The participants also discussed energy security, industrial modernization, and investment attraction. In this context, they highlighted the mutual interest in expanding practical cooperation in energy, mechanical engineering, transport technologies, industrial cooperation, and digitalization.

Alongside economic reforms, the social priorities outlined in the President’s Address were also discussed. These included increasing household incomes, improving the social support system, developing healthcare and education, and creating a favorable environment for entrepreneurship. The experts stressed the importance of ensuring that the results of ongoing reforms translate into tangible improvements in citizens’ quality of life.

The roundtable concluded with a substantive exchange of views on Kazakhstan’s future development prospects and opportunities for further deepening Kazakh-German cooperation.
