Servicemen of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan won three gold and one silver medal at the Republic of Kazakhstan Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championship, held from October 22 to 25 in Astana. All four athletes of the Zhaubasar team were included in the national team based on the results of the competition.

The championship brought together the strongest representatives of regional federations who had passed preliminary selection. Athletes of various age categories competed for medals. Matches were held in two disciplines: Traditional and Modern.

As part of the Zhaubasar team representing the Special Operations Forces, Elaman Kuatov, Abdurakhman Omirzakov, and Ayan Tursun became champions of Kazakhstan. Zhuldyzai Ibraeva won the silver medal.

For the army athletes, these are not their first achievements at the republican and international levels.

In January 2026, Sergeant Elaman Kuatov became the Asian mixed martial arts champion in the weight category up to 120 kilograms. At the competition in China, he defeated opponents from Taipei, China, and Uzbekistan.

Ayan Tursun and Zhuldyzai Ibraeva also have experience competing in major republican competitions. In April of this year, at the Kazakhstan Hand-to-Hand Combat Championship in Karaganda, Ayan Tursun won a gold medal in the weight category up to 53 kilograms, and Zhuldyzai Ibraeva became a bronze medalist in the category up to 58 kilograms. At the same tournament, Elaman Kuatov won bronze.

The October Kazakhstan MMA Championship served as a qualifying stage for forming the national team for upcoming international competitions.

Based on the results of the tournament, all four servicemen of the Zhaubasar team were included in the Kazakhstan national team and earned the right to represent the country at the Mixed Martial Arts World Championship.
