Electronic Monitoring Bracelets Help Detect 104 Probation Violations in Kyzylorda Region
Since the beginning of this year, 104 violations have been detected in the Kyzylorda Region using electronic monitoring bracelets designed to supervise the behaviour of individuals registered with the probation service.
Of these, 97 cases involved convicted individuals leaving their places of residence at night without permission. Another four violations were related to travelling outside the administrative territory without prior approval from the probation service. In addition, three cases of damage to electronic monitoring bracelets were recorded.
Electronic bracelets are used to monitor individuals who violate the rules of serving their sentences, conditionally sentenced persons, as well as other individuals in cases provided for by law. These devices enable round-the-clock monitoring and help ensure compliance with restrictions imposed on convicted persons by court decisions.
Since the beginning of the year, the probation service has submitted 24 applications to the court requesting that imprisonment be imposed as a replacement for the sentences of individuals who have repeatedly and deliberately violated the rules and conditions of serving their sentences.
Recently, another individual registered with the probation service was fitted with an electronic monitoring bracelet. He had repeatedly failed to comply with the service's requirements and evaded the obligations imposed on him by the court. His behaviour is currently being monitored using an electronic surveillance device.
“I am to blame for what happened. I committed theft because I wanted to gain easy money. I have also been fitted with an electronic bracelet. This device does not cause me any inconvenience; on the contrary, it helps me maintain discipline. I have no intention of breaking the law again. I want to serve my sentence and be removed from the probation register,” said the individual registered with the probation service.
The Department of the Penal Enforcement System for the Kyzylorda Region will continue its efforts to support the social reintegration of convicted individuals, strengthen discipline and prevent repeat offences.
