The National Day of Dombra was celebrated in the women's penal colony in the Abai region

A solemn event dedicated to the National Day of Dombra, a holiday symbolizing the rich spiritual heritage, national culture and centuries—old traditions of the Kazakh people, was held in the women's penal colony in the Abai region.

During the event, the participants told about the history of dombra, its special place in the life of the Kazakh people and the importance of kuev as a unique musical heritage. The works of famous Kazakh composers-kuishi, conveying the history, traditions and worldview of the people, were performed. The atmosphere of the celebration allowed those present to touch the national art, to feel the power and depth of the sound of one of the main symbols of Kazakh culture.

The event was attended by more than 20 convicted women of various nationalities, including Kazakhs, Russians and Uzbeks.

A special place in the educational work of the institution is occupied by the dombra playing circle, which successfully operates on an ongoing basis. Its head is a convict with a high level of performing skills. Under her guidance, the participants of the circle learn the basics of playing a national instrument, master traditional kui, develop creative abilities and become familiar with the spiritual values of the Kazakh people.

During the event, the participants of the circle performed kui and folk music, demonstrating the acquired skills of playing the dombra. Their performances aroused sincere interest and warm applause from those present.

    - For me, playing the dombra became an opportunity to discover the richness of Kazakh culture in a new way. Each lesson helps to find inner peace, develop creatively and respect national traditions. I am glad that I can become a part of this circle. Such events remind us of our spiritual values and inspire positive changes," the convict shared.

    - National Dombra Day is a holiday that unites people of different generations and nationalities around common spiritual values. Holding such events in the institution contributes to the preservation of the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan, the formation of respect for national traditions, the development of creative abilities of convicts and the strengthening of an atmosphere of mutual understanding. Through art and culture, we create conditions for the spiritual growth of the individual and the successful re-socialization of convicts," said Akmaral Kairanova, Deputy head of the institution.
