A round table was held in the women's penal colony in the Abai region with the participation of the prosecutor of the Zharminsky district and representatives of small and medium-sized businesses.
The main topic of the meeting was the employment of convicted women and the creation of new jobs for them. The participants discussed the possibilities of attracting entrepreneurs to cooperate with the institution and further develop their production activities.
Today, the colony has a convenience store, a bakery and semi-finished products workshop, a greenhouse and a sewing workshop.
The facility houses more than 200 convicted women, of whom about 130 are employed. They are engaged in sewing clothes, growing vegetables, producing bakery products and semi-finished products. The manufactured products are in demand in various districts of the region.
- Today it is important not only to provide convicts with work, but also to give them the opportunity to acquire practical skills that will be in demand after their release. Every workplace created is a contribution to the successful social adaptation of a person. We are ready for further cooperation with entrepreneurs to expand production and increase the employment of convicted women. The main purpose of such work is to give convicts the opportunity to work, acquire a profession and successfully adapt to life in society after serving their sentences," said Anar Sabiyeva, Deputy head of the institution.
During the round table, the participants also discussed the prospects for expanding production areas and attracting new business representatives to cooperation. The development of such projects will create additional jobs, increase the employment of convicted women and provide conditions for their successful preparation for their return to society.
