
Helsinki, October 07, 2026 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Finland Azamat Abdraimov visited the Oil Spill Response Testing and Training Facility and the Maritime Simulation Centre in the city of Kotka.
During the visit, Finland`s advanced technologies and practical approaches to training specialists in the prevention of and response to oil spills at sea were presented, including the use of modern maritime simulators.
At the Oil Spill Response Testing and Training Facility the capabilities for conducting practical training sessions in a test pool using full-scale oil spill response equipment were demonstrated.
At the Maritime Simulation Centre, the capabilities for recreating various navigation and emergency situations, as well as different weather conditions at sea, were presented. Such technologies enable practical training of specialists and allow them to practice actions in conditions that closely resemble real-life situations.
Particular attention was paid to emergency response in the Caspian Sea, including the prevention of and response to oil spills, as well as the sustainable use of its natural resources. In this regard, an exchange of views was held on the prospects for further bilateral cooperation in personnel training and the exchange of expert experience.
The parties noted the prospects for developing contacts between the relevant organizations of the two countries, as well as conducting joint training exercises aimed at strengthening capacity in the field of environmental safety in the Caspian region.
