
21 September 2026, Bucharest — Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Romania A. Sainov held a meeting with D. Constantin, Chairman of the Romanian Agency for Investments and Foreign Trade (ARICE).
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Kazakhstan–Romania trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as ways to further strengthen bilateral engagement.
Particular attention was paid to the dynamics of bilateral trade, the structure of trade turnover and opportunities for its further expansion. The sides noted significant potential for broadening the range of goods traded between the two countries and implementing new joint projects.
In the context of strengthening investment cooperation, the Romanian side was invited to consider the possibility of concluding a Memorandum of Understanding between the Romanian Agency for Investments and Foreign Trade and the relevant Kazakh state authority. The document would create additional opportunities for systematic cooperation in investment promotion, information exchange and facilitation of business contacts.
The meeting also focused on giving practical substance to bilateral economic cooperation. The Romanian side expressed its readiness to provide a list of specific Romanian companies interested in establishing cooperation with Kazakh partners and entering the Kazakh market.
The sides also discussed the prospects for holding the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation (IGC).
An agreement was reached to make joint efforts to hold the IGC meeting in Astana later this year, following the appointment of the Romanian co-chair.
In conclusion, the sides reaffirmed their interest in further developing constructive dialogue and expanding practical cooperation between Kazakhstan and Romania in the trade, economic and investment spheres.
A RICE is a public authority within the central administration of Romania, operating under the Government and under the coordination of the Prime Minister. The Agency is responsible for implementing state policy in the areas of attracting foreign investment to Romania, promoting Romanian exports abroad, and supporting Romanian investments overseas.
The Agency also serves as the Secretariat of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation (IGC). D. Constantin was appointed Chairman of ARICE in 2026. Previously, he served as Deputy Prime Minister and held the positions of Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Environment.
