Brasilia, September 18, 2026 – The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Federative Republic of Brazil, jointly with the Brazil–Kazakhstan Friendship Forum, organized a thematic conference entitled “Constitutional and Institutional Reforms as a Factor of Political Stability and Investment Attractiveness of Kazakhstan.”
The event was held at the Memorial Darcy Ribeiro center at the University of Brasília (UnB) as the latest meeting of the Kazakhstan–Brazil Friendship Forum, with the participation of representatives of Brazil’s political, social and expert communities.
In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Bolat Nussupov briefed the participants on the main directions of Kazakhstan’s political transformation, the new architecture of public administration, and the powers of the Kurultai. He also spoke about upcoming international events to be held in Astana. The main speakers from the Brazilian side included a number of prominent public figures, economists and local journalists.
In particular, President of the Kazakhstan–Brazil Friendship Forum and former Senator Ulysses Riedel positively assessed the constitutional reforms and large-scale political transformations underway in Kazakhstan. He also wished the people of the Republic of Kazakhstan success in implementing the reforms and further success in the work of the new Kurultai.
The Brazilian politician also paid particular attention to the upcoming 24th meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, scheduled for October 7, 2026.
President of the Brazil–Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Cassiano Viana noted that the ongoing public administration reforms and the activities of the new Parliament would provide significant momentum for increasing Kazakhstan’s investment attractiveness and expanding the country’s trade and economic ties with the international community.
President of the Institute “Democracy Monitor” and renowned expert Marcio Coimbra provided a detailed commentary on the political reform process underway in Kazakhstan, with particular attention to the development of democratic institutions and the improvement of the electoral process.
Elna Souza, Editor-in-Chief of the Brazilian news agency “Diplomacia Business,” shared her impressions of participating in the international multi-sport tournament “Games of the Future” in Astana from July 29 to 31 this year. The Brazilian journalist also highlighted the significant potential for tourism development in Kazakhstan.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Scorzin, a journalist with the local media outlet “Brasília in Foco,” spoke about his experience covering the elections of Kurultai deputies during his visit to Astana on August 23, 2026. The journalist gave a positive assessment of the preparation and conduct of the electoral process in Kazakhstan.
Overall, the Brazilian participants demonstrated considerable interest in the constitutional reforms and transformations of Kazakhstan’s political system. The event concluded with a substantive exchange of views on matters of mutual interest, as well as on certain aspects of bilateral Kazakhstan–Brazil cooperation. The participants also discussed the Friendship Forum’s work plans for 2027.
