In accordance with the Rules for Settling Debt of Individuals, approved by the Board Resolution of the ARDFM No. 51, collection agencies may unilaterally offer the borrower improved debt repayment terms, including:
• Full or partial waiver of fines, penalties, and fees.
• Reduction or cancellation of interest.
• Deferral or installment payment plans.
Collectors are required to notify the borrower of such changes.
If the borrower disagrees, they have the right to reject the proposed terms by submitting a written statement to the collection agency within 14 days from the date of notification.
If the borrower fails to reach an agreement with the collection agency, they may appeal to the Microfinance Ombudsman, who reviews disputes involving citizens concerning microloans, including issues related to overdue debt and interactions with collectors.
