What is the maximum insurance payout under the compulsory civil liability insurance of motor vehicle owners?
In accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 24 of the Law on Compulsory Insurance of Civil Liability of Vehicle Owners (CICLVO), the maximum liability of the insurer per insured event (insurance amount) is set in monthly calculation indices (MCIs) as follows:
For damage caused to the life or health of each victim, resulting in:
Death – 2,000 MCIs;
Establishment of disability:
Group I – 1,600 MCIs;
Group II – 1,200 MCIs;
Group III – 500 MCIs;
Child with disability – 1,000 MCIs;
Injury, trauma, or other health damage without disability – in the amount of actual expenses for outpatient and/or inpatient treatment, but not more than 300 MCIs;
For damage caused to the property of one victim – in the amount of the actual damage, but not more than 600 MCIs;
For damage caused to the property of two or more victims simultaneously – in the amount of the actual damage, but not more than 600 MCIs per victim. However, the total amount of insurance payments to all victims must not exceed 2,000 MCIs.
If the total damage exceeds the insurer’s maximum liability, insurance payments to each victim shall be made proportionally to the extent of damage caused to their property.
