The main tasks and functions of the department

• prepares for approval the composition of the tender commissions for granting the subsoil use right for exploration or production of widespread minerals;

• prepares and organizes tenders for granting subsoil use rights for exploration or production of widespread minerals;
  

• prepares for approval a draft list of subsoil plots containing common minerals, subject to tender or auction;

• in the territory where there are no surface water bodies, but there are sufficient reserves of drinking-quality groundwater, in agreement with the authorized body in the field of sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population, the authorized body for the study and use of subsurface resources may, with appropriate justification, issue a permit for the use of these waters for purposes not related to drinking and domestic water supply;
