Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Mexican States were established on January 14, 1992.

The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Mexican States was opened in Mexico City in January 2014.

Since November 15, 2024, H.E. Mr. Almurat Turganbekov has been Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Mexican States.

The primary purpose of the Embassy is the development and strengthening of mutually beneficial Kazakh-Mexican cooperation across the entire spectrum of bilateral interaction: politics, economics, investment, culture, science, education, tourism, etc.

One of the main priorities in the work of the Embassy is the protection of the legal rights and interests of Kazakhstan citizens in the territory of Mexico.

In addition to the resident country (Mexico), the Embassy's area of responsibility extends to the following countries and international organizations: Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, the Republic of Honduras, Grenada, the Republic of Guatemala, the Commonwealth of Dominica, the Republic of Costa Rica, the Republic of Panama, the Republic of El Salvador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, as well as the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and the Agency for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean (OPANAL).
