The center is the city of Fort Shevchenko. The area of the territory is 13.3 thousand km2. The district is united into 1 city, 4 villages and 1 rural district. The total population is 38,397 people.
The state institution "Apparatus of Akim of Tupkaragan district" is a state body of the Republic of Kazakhstan that provides guidance in organizational, information-analytical and logistical support of the activities of Akim of Tupkaragan district.
