These regimes are not interchangeable: each country sets its own application process, fees, processing times and permitted purposes of travel. Questions about entry regimes What does visa-free entry mean? A visa does not need to be obtained in advance. Border officials may still check passport validity, a return ticket, accommodation, sufficient funds or travel insurance. What is the difference between visa on arrival, ETA and eVisa? A visa on arrival is issued at the port of entry. An ETA is an electronic travel authorisation that is generally not a visa. An eVisa is an electronic visa that must be obtained before departure. Why does an eVisa not count towards the mobility score? This service defines mobility as entry without obtaining a visa in advance. An eVisa is therefore shown as a separate mode and does not independently increase the score. How does the “90 days in any 180 days” rule work? On each day of a stay, the previous rolling 180-day period is counted. Total presence during that period must not exceed 90 days, and leaving does not always reset the allowance. Does visa-free access guarantee entry? No. The final decision belongs to border authorities, which may ask for evidence of the trip purpose, accommodation, sufficient funds, a return ticket and compliance with other conditions.
