Biography
H.E. Mr. Erzhan Kazykhan was born on August 21, 1964, in Almaty.
1989-1992 - Second, First Secretary of the Protocol and Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
1992-1995 - Chief of Protocol, Deputy Head of the State Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
1995-1999 - First Secretary, Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN in New York.
1999-2003 - Director of the Multilateral Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2003-2007 - Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN in New York; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Cuba concurrently.
2007-2008 - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2008 - Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2009-2011 - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Austria, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to International Organizations in Vienna.
2011-2012 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2012-2014 - Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2014-2017 - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Ireland and the Republic of Iceland concurrently.
2017-2021 - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United States of America.
2021-2023 - Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for International Cooperation.
2023-2025 – Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for External Affairs.
Since November 2025, by decree of the Head of State, appointed as the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
H.E. Mr. Erzhan Kazykhan holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
