Biography
Kairat Sarzhanov – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Switzerland
He was born on February 24, 1967, in the Almaty region. Graduated in 1992 from the Faculty of History of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, and in 1995 from the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Federation with a degree in international law.
He began his diplomatic service in 1995 as an attache of the Department of International Security and Arms Control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 1996 to 2002, he worked in various positions in the Department of Multilateral Cooperation. Then he held the positions of First Secretary, adviser at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Japan, and adviser and Adviser-Envoy at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Czech Republic (Slovakia). In 2011-2016 – Director of the Department of Administration and Control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2016-2021, he was the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil, Argentina, and Chile concurrently.
Prior to his appointment as Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Switzerland, he was the Director of the Department of International Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan since March 2021.
He has the diplomatic rank of Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the First class.
