Biography
H.E. Ontalap Onalbayev - Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Iran
He was born on January 6, 1966 in Kyzylorda region. He graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh State University and Kazakh Humanities and Law University.
He started his career in 1986 as a worker at the state farm named after Engels in Kyzylorda region.
He began his diplomatic career in 1994 as a referent in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 1995-1997, he was an attaché of the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From 1997 to 2001, he was the attaché and third secretary of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Iran.
In 2001-2003, he worked as the second and first secretary of the Department of Information and Analysis, Department of Asia, Middle East and Africa and consultant of the Department of Consular Services in the Central Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2003-2009, he was the first secretary of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Kyrgyzstan and the first secretary and adviser of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Iran.
In 2009-2011, he was the head of the Asia and Africa Department.
In 2011-2012, he worked as a consultant-representative of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Iran.
In 2012-2018, he served as the Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the city of Gorgan (Iran).
In 2018-2019, he was the head of the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
In 2019-2022, he was the deputy director of the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the director of the Near, Middle East and Africa Department.
From August to October 2022, he worked as an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From October 2022, before being appointed as the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Iran, he served as the Ambassador for Special Assignments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the II class has a diplomatic rank.
He is fluent in Persian and English.
